The original living quarters was a log cabin built by John McKinley ( 1767 - 1827 ), and wife Frances Rogers (1771 - 1851), in the late 1700's. They made their living by farming and had 10 children. The house today still contains the original log cabin within the house with the additions wrapping around it. The second owner was Alexander ( Sandy ) McKinley ( 1807 - 1869 ), and wife Elizabeth Morrison McKinley ( 1816 - 1892 ). They made their living by farming and had 10 children. The Staffords were the 3rd owners from 1869 to 1913. They had 8 children and also made their living by farming. The house was then obtained by the current Quay family who made their living as diary farmers. The first tractor was a large one with steel paddle wheels. The last work mule died in the early 1970's. Lloyd's grandfather, Aaron, was a horseman, kept, rode, and used horses to pull carriages. There are additional pictures of Aaron to be added later. This farm has the largest and best preserved barn that I know of in Harrisburg and a separate page may be dedicated to it and the silos. The dairy business ceased in 1966 when the operation switched to beef cattle.
